![]() Chargers for life! _Cypress, Calif. - Regardless of the outcome, the night belonged to the four sophomores from this year's Cypress College women's volleyball team that were honored prior to playing in their final home game on Don Johnson Court. Team captain Kelsey Mersey, Stephanie Casillas, Marissa Tomei and Megan Kirkpatrick were recognized for their hard work and dedication as Cypress Chargers in a touching ceremony before the match. The match didn't go quite as well, with Cypress losing to Orange Coast College in straight sets, 0-3, (18-25, 17-25, 18-25). Casillas led the Chargers with 17 kills and .325 hitting percentage. Mersey hit at a .562 clip with 10 kills. Freshman Holly Webster had a team-high 14 digs, followed by fellow freshman Ashley Crawford who finished with 11 defensive digs. The Chargers came out fired up and kept things close early on, but the Pirates slowly pulled away to take the first game 25-18 and go up 1-0 in the match. Orange Coast picked up a 25-17 victory in the second game to take a two game lead in the match, then held off a Cypress rally to pull out a 25-18 third set win, and 3-0 match victory.
