Cypress Closes Season with Wild Win Over IVC 11/11/2011

Irvine, Calif. - Cypress rallied for three goals in the final seven minutes to beat Irvine Valley 6-5 on the road in an Orange Empire Conference match Friday.

Oscar Alba put the Chargers (7-8-5, 5-5-4)on top 1-0 early in the game, but the Lasers would score twice before the half to go up 2-1 at the break.

The Lasers scored again in the 64th minute to go up 3-1, but Cypress came charging back with a pair of goals by Brian Meza and Andrew Fernandez to tie the game at 3-3.

IVC scored on a penalty kick to regain the lead briefly, but Cypress would answer right back with a goal by Chris Berkley.

The Lasers went back on top 5-4, but Cypress wasn't going to let this one slip away. Berkley pounded home two more goals with the clock running down to clinch the victory for Cypress. He tied the game at 5-5 off a pass from Hugo Trejo in the 86th minute, then put the Chargers up for good when he Matt Spies found him for the game winner.. I
Nate Fletcher finished with 13 saves for the Chargers.
